American Women Codebreakers of World War II
In honor of the 80th anniversary of D-Day, June 6, 1944, we recognize the female codebreakers who worked behind the scenes in secrecy at Arlington Hall (now FSI's campus). The Allied Commanders used the codebreakers’ information to help prepare for D-Day, the largest-ever combined airborne and amphibious military operation, and made it a success. Their work shortened World War II, ultimately saving countless lives. Check out this video to learn more about these unsung heroines. #AmericanHistory #WWIIHistory #HistoryMakers #HiddenFigures

Building a Strengths-Based Classroom: The Power of Heritage by Dr. Maria Polinsky

Teaching languages is not just about words and grammar. It’s about the people who use language to move through the world. For language teachers, this means that two things must be at the heart of our teaching: who our learners are and the ways that language comes alive for them. When it comes to teaching heritage language learners, language teachers have an opportunity to imagine new ways for w...

    Forget Ralph Bunch and his pro Nwo assistance as his own countrymen were being discriminated against. How has the U.N. been effective outside of European and Caucasian profit and global dominance plunging the ppls of the world and their countries into debt via the imf and deadly military operations to supplant the leaders and appoint one they can control as they enslave the ppls, build foreign military bases, a steal the countries resources destabilizing the country far more than ever. Why he didnt use his diplomacy for Indigenous Americans mismomered Indians, negros, then colored, the blacks then African Americans???

    Fabulous talk, TBLT is the way forward in ELT, that's for sure. There are hurdles to overcome: training teachers in the methodology at CELTA level, gettings DOS onboard, promoting this at IELTS, TESOL events etc. We need to get the evidence and research out there, need advocates with a voice like Mike Long. A big thank you for sharing!

      My experience with CELTA a few years ago: no TBLT! PPP only!

    • @hullcityafc72
      @hullcityafc72 2 роки тому

      @@mywong2411 hi there, l suppose the argument for the defence would be that CELTA is a relatively short course with limited time to get pre-service teachers ready to go into a classroom and teach. Love it or loathe it, PPP is the current dominant methodology and the majority of coursebooks follow its guidelines. I don't recall from my CELTA course (as it was years ago) if alternative methods or approaches were even mentioned. I guess the supposition is that if a teacher decides to take their knowledge further, then they will come into contact with other ways at DELTA or MA level. That said, it is also a DOS' responsibility to nudge and hint to interested teachers that alternatives are out there and encourage experimentation and hybridization
